
Michael Gregory Derrick is an attorney with Shuttleworth PLLC where he has practiced in the area of civil litigation and matters involving insurance coverage for more than 30 years.
Mike’s background is in Insurance and Risk Management. He has worked in-house for a major commercial property and casualty insurer as well as for local, regional, and international brokers. He has experience in both the domestic U.S. and overseas London insurance markets, where he has had extensive involvement in the implementation and management of an array of insurance and risk management programs with particular emphasis in product liability, professional liability and commercial casualty coverage. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, having earned his CPCU in 1987. Before joining Shuttleworth PLLC he was Vice President and Counsel, at Willis Towers Watson predecessor, Willis Corroon Nashville.
Mike is a Fellow in the American College of Coverage Counsel with memberships and affiliations which include the American Bar Association; ABA Law Practice Section; ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section; Excess, Surplus Lines and Reinsurance Committee; Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee; the Tennessee Bar Association; the Memphis Bar Association; Tennessee Association for Justice; and The Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) Society. He currently serves as President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis.
Mike is a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Listed Civil Mediator and is an elected Fellow in the Memphis Bar Foundation. He has served on appointment by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Commissioner to the Tennessee Lawyer’s Assistance Program, serves currently as an Advisory Board Member to that Commission and also serves on the Board of Directors of The TLAP Foundation. He has a Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating and has been named SuperLawyer by Thomson Reuters.
